Watch the video below to discover the benefits of RCS (Rich Communication Services) for both users and brands:
Key features and benefits of RCS for Business
Rich content
Allows sending images, videos, buttons, and even carousels. More visually appealing and more engaging customer experience.
Interactivity
Lets you include buttons that customers can tap to take actions, like booking an appointment or making a purchase. This can streamline communication and improve customer experience.
Branding
Includes your business logo and colors, making them instantly recognizable to your customers.
Verification
The sender is verified to enhance trust and ensure consumers that the message comes from a trusted sender.
Analytics
Provides insights into how customers are interacting with your messages, so you can track their effectiveness and make improvements. Analytics include delivery and read receipts.
Note that if an end user turns off read receipts on their device the business won't see that the message has been read, only delivered.
In RCS, read receipts are tied to the conversation identity, not the individual device. If a subscriber has multiple devices registered under the same RCS identity (e.g., phone + tablet), the network only acknowledges the first read event. After that, additional reads on other devices won’t trigger duplicate receipts, since the state of the message is already updated to “read” for that identity.
No app to download
Most Android devices are now shipping with Google Messages as the default messaging app, meaning customers don’t need to download a new app to start using RCS.
Apple began to roll out RCS and RCS for Business support with the iOS 18 release in 2024. Read more here.
Verified RCS Agent
Increase trust with customers by using a verified sender (RCS Agent) and engage with them.
Increased engagement
RCS is proven to increase customer engagement using compelling, branded conversations. Unlike SMS, businesses can use rich features such as suggested replies, image carousels and contextual actions to personalise interactions.
Suggested actions
Provide your customers with predefined options so they can tap a button rather than having to type a response.
Display reports
Identify who has seen your messages so you can better inform future engagements.
Rich cards and Carousels
Enhance messages with rich image cards or multiple cards called a carousel with each card having its own suggested actions/replies.
Webview
You can use the Open URL suggested action to embed webviews. This enables users to easily access web content without leaving the Messages app. Webviews can display in full, half, or tall screen.
Note: an update is required to enable webviews, so this feature will become more widespread over time. On devices that don't support webviews, the specified web page will open in user's default browser.
Fallback options
No RCS? No problems! Sinch has developed a unique fallback experience that allows all customers, regardless of device or messaging app, to receive messages on another channel like SMS.
