Sinch provides SMS functionality via the SMS channel on Conversation API apps. Most accounts will usually have one SMS channel provisioned by default. You can create more SMS channels to use with multiple Conversation API apps.

To create a new SMS channel:

  1. Log in to the Sinch Build Dashboard.

  2. Select Conversation API from the left menu and select the Apps option. The Conversation Apps page is displayed.

  3. Click the name of the app to which you want to add the new SMS channel.

  4. Locate the SMS row and click Settings.

The SMS channel configuration page is displayed.

  5. Click Set up new SMS channel under Connect SMS to start sending.

Note: If you'd rather connect to an SMS channel that already exists, click Choose existing SMS Channel and select the appropriate SMS channel (identified by name and corresponding Service plan ID) from the resulting form.

  6. Complete the Set up new SMS channel form:

    1. Provide an SMS Channel name to identify this channel in your configuration(s). This is an internal label used for identification and organizational purposes.

    2. Select your SMS region. We recommend selecting the region closest to your system (you will still be able to send messages globally).

    3. Click Continue.

Your new SMS channel (with a unique Service plan ID) has now been created. Ensure that it is connected to the correct Conversation API app. If it is not, review this article on how to configure existing SMS channels.
