10DLC or long code traffic in Canada is not sanctioned and not regulated therefore carriers' filter will apply. All +1 numbers can deliver SMS to +1 countries (NANP). Canadian carriers are reviewing the same process of potentially registering local numbers as 10DLC like the US but haven't decided yet.
If you're looking to send messages in Canada and the US, you will need to register your number as 10DLC to ensure successful delivery of messages toward US carriers. Unregistered traffic is no longer supported in the US.
In general, SC (Short Codes) are the most reliable product for A2P messaging in Canada.
