Feaure Requests

Hello, I'm using the Windows desktop version of officeXtend. I would like the ability to natively paste image snippets into the chats. As of right now all I can do is open the file explorer and attach a file (in other words, it's kind of cumbersome).

Is this something that can be considered in new versions?

Also, I would like the ability to do video calls from the desktop app. I'm hoping this could be considered as well.

Thanks

I'll put in a request to our desktop app team to see if pasting an image is something they could support.

For video calling, the officeXtend client uses SIP (session initiation protocol) to place voice calls. While video could be supported, the video stream typically gets stripped by voice networks when they get routed to other carriers. Unfortunately this means video is not well supported end-to-end in SIP calling on most telecom networks and fails most of the time. This is why there are so many other alternatives now like Webex, Teams and others that use their own technologies and data networks to support video.

The mobile version of officeXtend can support video if you want to see if it works. When placing a call, enter the number to call and press-and-hold the phone icon and a menu should pop-up with an option to place a video call. When in the call, there is a camera icon that will let you choose the front or back camera. Though again, I find this rarely works end-to-end due to the underlying phone carriers removing the video streams. The audio will work, but the video doesn't. You might have some success calling other officeXtend users within your company, but generally not people outside of the company.
