What is "Authentication Plus"?
Authentication Plus is an enhanced verification process used by The Campaign Registry (TCR) when registering publicly traded brands (such as Coca-Cola, Apple, or McDonald's) for 10DLC messaging campaigns. Authentication plus is separate from the general verification process or verifying the brands Tax ID/EIN matches the Legal Company Name provided.
What is constitues a Public Brand/Company?
A publicly traded company is a corporation whose shares are traded openly on stock exchanges, making ownership available to the general public. When registering these entities, a legal company name, country of registration, Employer ID Number (EIN)/Tax ID, address, website, vertical, stock symbol, stock exchange, and branded contact details are required. We accept registrations for public companies from many different countries. Note: Publicly traded companies (referred to as Public Profit) must enter a Brand Contact Email Address as part of their registration. This contact will receive a Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) email during registration in order to confirm their brand identity. A Public Profit brand can’t create new campaigns until the 2FA verification process is complete.
Purpose of Authentication Plus for Public Brands
🔒 Prevent Brand Spoofing or Abuse It ensures only the actual brand can register campaigns under their information. This stops bad actors from pretending to be a known brand (e.g., registering fraudulently).
✅ Validate Brand Identity Thoroughly For public companies, there's an added responsibility to confirm that the entity submitting the registration truly represents the brand—especially due to their visibility and risk exposure.
📈 Protect Brand Reputation Well-known brands have more to lose from misuse. Authentication Plus is a safeguard to make sure 10DLC messaging attributed to that brand is legitimate and trustworthy.
🛡️ Comply with Carrier Requirements Mobile carriers (like AT&T, T-Mobile) require stricter oversight for high-profile brands to prevent spam, phishing, or misleading messages being sent under fake brand names.
How do I action the Authentication plus verification?
Provide a branded company email. When registering a public brand via TCR or the dashboard, you'll need to provide a branded company email. Once the brand is submitted you will be sent a 2FA email that will come from a "no-reply" email from The Campaign Registry. (Please check your SPAM folder or your IT department for blocking of this email, if it's not received, as there is no alternate way to action authentication plus.)
Authentication + will prevent brand identity information from being changed once submitted. If a brand needs to change any information outside of the business contact email, a new brand will need to be submitted.
If the brand changes their business contact email after they have already been Authentication + verified, it will invalidate their previous verification, and they will need to go through the Authentication + verification again.
Authentication Plus is an extra security clearance for big-name brands in The Campaign Registry. It’s meant to protect brands, carriers, and consumers by ensuring only real, verified entities can represent public or high-profile brands in 10DLC messaging campaigns.
NOTE: Starting August 1st, Authentication Plus will incur a one-time $12.50 fee per verification. Ex. If you change the brands company email after its already been auth + verified, it will invalid the prior verification and it will need to be done again, which will incur another one time $12.50.
