What happens when you mix 200+ hackers, 55+ teams from 15 countries who have a shared obsession with AI? You get magic — and that’s exactly what happened at Sinch’s Global AI Hackathon 2025!
Building on the momentum from last year’s inaugural event, this year we tripled participation and dialled up the ambition. This wasn’t just about code — it was about transforming how we think, build, and collaborate. With LLMs and autonomous agents as the stars of the show, the objective was for Sinch teams to turn bold ideas into working prototypes in just 48 hours — and they did so with serious style.
Hackathon Trends: Where Innovation Met Impact
One thing was clear from this year’s hackathon: APIs ruled the playground. From the Conversational API to Verification, Mailjet, and Chatlayer, Sinchers poured their energy into enhancing core Sinch products, by leveraging powerful AI tools such as Gemini, GPT-4, and Claude AI. LLMs, locally hosted models, and autonomous agents were everywhere — proof that Sinchers are not just experimenting with AI, but shaping how it’s applied across customer experience, developer tools, and internal workflows. The blend of Sinch APIs + cutting-edge AI was a theme that strongly resonated throughout the event.
How We Judged the Magic
Great ideas are only part of the puzzle! Our scoring system was designed to reward both creativity and execution. Impact & Viability and Innovation & Creativity each carried 30% of the total score, pushing teams to dream big and build something Sinch could actually run with. Meanwhile, Presentation (20%) tested how clearly teams communicated their vision, and Implementation (20%) measured how well it all worked — bonus points if the jury could test it out themselves!
In the end, it wasn’t just about cool tech — it was about real solutions that moved the needle.
And the Winners Are…
This year’s Sinch AI Hackathon was stacked with talent, but a few teams truly levelled up:
Agent Connect (Team Account and Access)
Making Sinch’s public APIs seamlessly accessible to AI agents by enabling autonomous discovery via MCP and A2A and frictionless onboarding through OAuth2 Dynamic Client Registration.
Basically, they built the future!
Plaintext Segments (Team Contacts)
A new AI-powered interface that lets users create contact segments simply by describing them in plain language.
Campaign Tool (Team Panda)
Creating multi-channel marketing campaigns by using AI to generate cohesive email, landing page, and RCS/SMS assets from a single campaign description.
FraudBusters (Team Fraudbusters)
ScamShield listens to live call audio and uses real-time transcription and LLM analysis on Sinch SIP Trunking to flag social-engineering cues (e.g., “IT support,” OTP harvest), label calls “SCAM Risk” or “Safe,” and take action instantly.
Estimator-IA (Team Edgar García)
A tool that delivers personalized, contextual predictive analysis for message campaigns by identifying low-attention risks so you can optimize timing and boost engagement.
Major kudos and congratulations to the winning teams and to all teams who took part — your brilliance, creativity, and AI wizardry blew us away!
